Durant la guerre civile grecque (1946-1949), les combattants du camp progressiste furent déportés en masse à Ikaria, île perdue au milieu de la mer Égée. Les habitants locaux ont fraternisé avec eux, les hébergeant, les nourrissant, les cachant quand le gouvernement les déporta à nouveau, cette fois-ci dans la sinistre île de Makronissos.
During the Greek Civil War (1946-1949), fighters from the progressive camp were deported en masse to Ikaria, an island lost in the middle of the Aegean Sea. The locals fraternized with them, sheltering them, feeding them, hiding them when the government deported them again, this time to the sinister island of Makronissos.
